Rui Miguel Ramos Pereira: Drums
Born in Lisbon in 1977 and started studying music at Hot Club of Lisbon in 1999, taking drum lessons with Bruno Pedroso for four years.
He started to play Rock/Pop but his mainly musical activities were related to jazz music. In 2003 he played in the 1st National Youth Big Band in Portugal, before he moved to Amsterdam, to study at the Amsterdam’s Conservatory.
In 2007 he was accepted in the Master Program at the Amsterdam’s Conservatory where he follows lessons with Martijn Vink. During this time he had the possibility to attend workshops with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Fly, John Scofield, Jim Black, Ari Hoening, Joey Baron, Peter Bernstein, Chris Potter trio, Terri lyne Carrington and Aaron Goldberg, and to perform with Gary Smulyan and Gerard Presencer.
Since 2007 he has been playing and touring around Europe (Portugal, Spain, France, England, Holland and Greece etc) with projects based in Amsterdam (Trioism, CC5, 3Park, Joao Firmino quintet) and Lisbon (Yeti project, Nuno Costa Group, Trisonte).
In 2007 he started leading his own band together with Gianni Gagliardi on tenor saxophone, Soso Lakatos on alto saxophone and Joao Hasselberg on double bass.
