Artis Orubs: Drums.
Born in Riga, Latvia in 1983. Being first influenced by his father, drummer Indris Orubs (Odis, Dr Borhmentol), he started his classical music studies in E. Darzins school of music. From an early age, he started playing as a professional musician in bands of diverse styles: jazz, blues, rock, pop, country etc.
He has studied classical percussion with Dz. Knabe and E. Saksons, and performed as marimba soloist with the Latvian National symphony orchestra. He has participated in different festivals and projects all over Europe and was co-winner of the grand prix of “Liepajas dzintars 200” with the blues band “Driving south”.
He has performed with Frans van der Hoeven, Jasper Bloom, Mark van Roon, Eric Boeren, Franky Douglas, Janet Lawson, Boris Gammer and many more. From 2003 to 2008 he was a student of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Gherard Jeltes, Marcel Serierse, Martijn Vink, Joost Lybart, Lucas van Merwijk, Bart Fermie, Gerardo Rosales and Gregory Hutchinson.
He is currently extensively working as a studio musician and playing in many different projects.
